MIDLAND The absence of a single empty seat at Thursday’s National Philanthropy Day luncheon showed once again that charitable giving isn’t going out of style any time soon.
More than 300 local volunteers and employees of nonprofit and business organizations gathered at the Petroleum Club to nibble a catered lunch and to honor outstanding community philanthropists in seven categories.
“The purpose was to recognize the spirit of giving that exists throughout the country,” Philanthropy Day Chairwoman Susan Webb said. “We want to recognize what the generosity of the citizens does for our communities.”
