The AFP- NNE Demont Scholarship Award for Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy recipient will be chosen from a pool of nominations by a New England Region Philanthropy Committee composed of development professionals working in the fields of education and youth services in northern New England."

National Philanthropy Day grows up: "So, when the desert's first National Philanthropy Day event was announced nine years ago, it didn't create much of a stir.  It was presented by a newly formed local chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals - Desert Chapter, and the first Outstanding Philanthropist of the Year honor went to Jim and Jackie Lee Houston in 2007.  The crowd was relatively small and the program was, uh, not as well organized as this community expects."

AFP Ottawa Celebrates Maxwell Rapley: "Maxwell Rapley is a young man who makes it a point to help others around him both at school and in the community. Max was well known at St. Patrick's High School for his personality, hard work ethic, and dedication to helping others. For the past three years, he was part of the student organizing committee for the Breakfast for Cancer fundraiser in support of the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation. This year alone, Max brought in more than $600 in funds, food, and raffle items.

Locals chosen for philanthropy awards: "Two southeast Saskatchewan residents and a local business have been selected to receive awards from the Association of Funding Professionals (AFP) Regina chapter for their commitment to their communities.

Lampman’s Ron Carson has been chosen to receive the Outstanding Philanthropist Award. Carson was nominated by the STARS Air Ambulance after he raised more than $200,000 for STARS through the Rescue on the Prairies fundraiser in August. "
