(PEBBLE BEACH, Ca.) — Since 1906, when employees of Granite Rock Co. loaded freshly baked bread onto horse-drawn wagons to feed earthquake victims in San Francisco, the Watsonville-based construction company has tried to give back to the community.

"Everybody's problems are our problems," CEO Bruce Woolpert said, tracing back his company's service history at the 13th annual National Philanthropy Awards Luncheon on Monday at the Inn at Spanish Bay.
