News from The Roanoke Times -United Way reluctant to celebrate strong start: " The First Virginia Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals has named the recipients of the 22nd annual National Philanthropy Day Awards. They will be recognized at a luncheon Thursday at the Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center. The recipients are: Giving Tree Award, Joseph Logan; Outstanding philanthropist, David Burrows; Outstanding volunteer fund-raiser, Dr. Frank Cotter; Outstanding young volunteer fund-raiser, Annie Mountcastle; Outstanding fund-raising executive, Robert Bennett Crawford; Outstanding student volunteer, Natalie Ellman; Outstanding philanthropic organization, the Rescue Mission of Roanoke"
