What do two Horse Shoe residents, a small-business owner and an executive in Hendersonville, a foundation in Alexander and an electrical company in Avery's Creek have in common? All are recipients of 2004 National Philanthropy Day awards.
Mark and Teri Muir of Horse Shoe are the region's Outstanding Philanthropists. They have enabled children with Asperger syndrome, a form of high-functioning autism, to achieve in school. Specifically, they designed, developed, marketed and directed School Within a School programs in Western North Carolina."
