"Brunton, 18, is being honored today as the philanthropic youth of the year at the 15th annual National Philanthropy Day awards luncheon at the Inn at Spanish Bay. Nominees came from Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz counties.

The contributions and efforts of four other philanthropic individuals and organizations will also be honored, and more than 60 'distinguished honorees' nominated by local nonprofit organizations will also be recognized.

'Jehan was a real stalwart in our volunteer organization,' said Kathleen Hicks, president of the Auxiliary at Community Hospital. 'She's a real dependable, good gal.'"
