Efforts of volunteers lauded: South Florida Sun-Sentinel: "ommunity giving is not a one-time event,' said Kathleen Ryan, of PACE Center for Girls-Broward. 'They commit their lives to helping others.'

National Philanthropy Day, celebrated in November, is coordinated by the Association of Fund-raising Professionals to honor the philanthropic work.

Robert Radice, of Fort Lauderdale and winner of the 2005 Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser award, suggests that anyone considering getting involved should do their homework. Attend a meeting to learn more about the group's mission and inquire about its intentions and results."
