Whether our Thanksgiving traditions include food, prayer, football or just enjoying one another's company, most of us think of this holiday as the beginning of the giving season. However, for many in the community, giving is important throughout the year, with a special focus on philanthropy during November -- through the celebration of National Philanthropy Day and the observation of Community Foundation Week.
The Brandywine Chapter of the Association for Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and the Delaware Community Foundation (DCF) have adopted the Ribbon of Philanthropy as the official symbol of philanthropy for Delaware and will introduce it at Delaware's 2005 Philanthropy Day, which is sponsored by AFP.
By doing so, we are supporting The Power of Philanthropy, a worldwide initiative launched by the Puerto Rico Community Foundation, and further committing our efforts to promote philanthropy and the value of doing what's right for the common good.
Philanthropy Day will be held Tuesday, Nov. 15 "
