'Outstanding' Awards

* Philanthropist: Raj Soin, MTC Technologies
* Volunteer Fundraiser: Mary W. Karr, former community relations director, NCR Corp.
* Fundraising Executive: Joseph Baldasare, vice president for development, Dayton Foundation
* Youth in Philanthropy, Age 5-17: Colleen Judge; Age 18-23: Robbin Kane
* Corporation: Dayton Power and Light Co.

Five individuals received awards for their efforts to keep charities' coffers full as part of a celebration of National Philanthropy Day.

Former NCR community relations director Mary Karr was named Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser for 35 years of volunteering with more than 15 charitable organizations in Dayton. While at NCR, she prodded employees to give to the United Way so much the company now has the highest employee gift average in the Miami Valley."
