LUZERNE COUNTY - LUZERNE COUNTY -- The Greater Northeast Pocono Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) seeks nominations from regional non-profits for the 2006 Philanthropy Day Awards.

Philanthropy Day is a national day that recognizes all individuals and organizations that help to insure the nation’s non-profit organizations, schools, and religious institutions are well-funded.

The awards recognize the dedication of individual volunteer, corporation, foundation and fundraising professionals."

Expert on fundraising to talk at philanthropy event: "The Syracuse chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals considers it a coup to have landed the 35-year veteran of fundraising research as the primary lecturer at its National Philanthropy Day event Thursday, said Jill Allen, chairwoman of the event for the association. The event is noon to 5 p.m. at the Shenandoah clubhouse of Turning Stone Resort and Casino.

'He's a storyteller and his presentations are truly exciting and engaging,' Allen said.

Panas is founder of Decision Research Institute, which does market research; founder and board chairman of the Institute for Charitable Giving, a training firm; and executive partner of Jerold Panas, Linzy & Partners, which is based in Chicago and is one of the nation's most highly respected consultants to nonprofits, according to Allen. He'll speak without a break for three hours."
