The Jaffe Legal News Service: "adams andReese Named Outstanding Corporate Philanthropist of the Year
NEW ORLEANS (February 9, 2006) – Adams and Reese has been named the Outstanding Corporate Philanthropist for 2005 by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Greater New Orleans Chapter. For the past 25 years, AFP has honored individuals and organizations whose contributions have made a profound impact on their communities. The firm was recognized with other civic and community leaders at a luncheon on February 9, 2006. The 25th Anniversary of National Philanthropy Day was November 17, 2005. The awards luncheon and celebration was originally scheduled for that day, but was postponed due to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. With unprecedented devastation, hurt and loss as a result of hurricanes this year, the value of philanthropy has never been as great, and makes this year’s event most notable."

"The story above can be used as an illustration. You could also use this little story: On November 15, National Philanthropy Day, the employees of the various Adventist organizations housed at the General Conference world headquarters gave $7,000 out of their own pockets to help fund food security programs (such as the one in the story above) in Rwanda, which serve 70,000 survivors of the 1994 genocide. Matching funds raised by ADRA turned this $7,000 into a total grant of $50,000 for the project."

Hollister Free Lance: "Volunteers Honored for their Dedication

Anyone who has worked at a nonprofit organization knows that volunteers are the backbone of the organization. Whether they are board members who meet once a month or members of the team that meet your mission on a daily basis, volunteers make our organizations a success.
In November, the Community Foundation for San Benito County honored volunteers in the county at a luncheon on National Philanthropy Day. CMAP was there to cover it, so you've got an opportunity to catch it.
The foundation's executive director, Gary Byrne, kicked off the event by welcoming the record-breaking 275 people in attendance who came from 39 county nonprofits. This is the fifth year the foundation has held the event, and it seems to be growing by leaps and bounds.
County Board of Supervisors Chair Reb Monaco, along with Hollister Mayor Robert Scattini and former San Juan Bautista Mayor Arturo Medina, presented a proclamation to the foundation, designating Nov. 15 Philanthropy Day in San Benito County. Marilyn Darby, hostess of the event for the past four years, introduced Brad Pike to official the event."
