Ten Top Awards changed to Nov. 28: "DAYTON | The 43rd annual Dayton Daily News Ten Top Women Awards ceremony has been changed to Nov. 28 to avoid a conflict with another group's award presentation also scheduled Nov. 16, the newspaper's earlier date for the luncheon.
The Miami Valley chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals had set its National Philanthropy Day luncheon and awards program at the Mandalay Banquet Center in Moraine, said Bobbi Skipton, the group's president."

Columnists - Opinion
Today, in one way or another, every one of us will benefit from the contributions made by philanthropists. Indeed, it is safe to say that we have already had our lives improved in countless ways by philanthropy. Those elements that define a good life — the health of our family members, educational opportunities, strong spiritual communities, even our pets, and our passions — have all been nourished and enhanced through acts of charitable giving. Our parks, performance halls, institutions of research and learning, and a list of human activity too long to print, have all benefited directly from the voluntary contribution of resources. That's what philanthropy is the promotion of the greater good through voluntary charitable assistance, people freely giving of their resources, their time, money and expertise to enrich their communities.
